Pond Algae Control

Tis the season for pond algae!  Sanco Industries has several copper sulfate based products that will kill pond algae in 24 hours.  Copper Sulfate Smart Crystals are granular and good for controlling filamentous algae.  Crystal Plex is a liquid copper product that will kill a large variety of pond algae including filamentous algae and stays active in the water column for a longer period of time.

When controlling algae it is important to treat only a portion of the growth at a time to avoid oxygen depletion and fish kill.  Treat ½ of your pond, wait 5-7 days and treat the other half.  For severe algae growth you may want to treat 1/3, 1/3, and 1/3.  Using a spray application for both the granular and liquid is the most effect way to apply the product.

The use of pond dye and pond bacteria can also help in your efforts to minimize pond growth.
