Sludge Removal Products

26 Apr 2012

Don’t let excessive muck and sludge make your pond into a quagmire. Part of any effective pond maintenance plan is muck and sludge removal. Sludge removal increases shoreline and beach safety, and hinders aquatic weed growth. But first, locate the source of your muck and sludge.

One source is decaying organic matter. Existing plant decay and subsequent re-growth is a vicious cycle. Removal of the problem weeds and treating the existing muck at the same time is the only way to break this recurring cycle.

Another possible source is excessive fertilizers entering the pond. Fertilizers contain phosphorous and nitrogen which algae and pond weeds thrive on. Eliminating the source is the best course of action, but when you can’t consider contacting a pond construction expert for solutions.

Once you have the source of your muck and sludge under control, you can reduce sludge further with Sanco’s line of aquatic chemicals such asMuck Doctor. Visit our Herbicides Page for a list of products and important product information.
