Copper for Septic Tree Roots

05 Oct 2014

Sanco has two septic maintenance products, Septi-Clean and Root Destroyer.  Root Destroyer is a copper sulfate product that will get rid of tree roots from your septic lines without harming the tree.

However, copper sulfate is corrosive to metal and in some older homes cast iron piping is used for septic lines.  It is important to know if your home was built with cast iron piping.  After prolonged use copper sulfate will start to corrode metal like cast iron creating more problems.  Most homes built within the past 10 years have had septic tanks built with PVC pipes.  If your home has PVC piping you are good to use Root Destroyer to get rid of and maintain invasive roots that have crept into your septic lines.

If your home is older and has cast iron piping you may want to look into rock salt.  This is not our product and we make no claims about usage or effectiveness of this type of product in septic application. Contact Sanco for more information on septic maintenance.
