One of the most unsightly problems pond owners have is with algae infestations. Once algae settles in, it spreads and takes over your pond. One way to combat algae is through the use of liquid algaecide. Sanco provides Crystal Plex, which is a product designed to eliminate many types of algae like filamentous, chara, and planktonic algae, which also works for other aquatic plants like Hydrilla.
The liquid copper sulfate formula of Crystal Plex controls and kills algae quickly. In fact, Crystal Plex is so effective that it is important to treat your pond in increments so that you don’t kill all the algae at once. Killing all the algae in one application will result in decreased oxygen levels caused by
the decaying algae, which can in turn harm fish. It is important to note that Crystal Plex should not be used in Koi or Trout ponds, but that it is safe for humans, other fish, livestock, pets, birds, swimming, and irrigation.
Some species of algae, like chara, should be managed not completly eliminated. Chara is a filter algae that can help keep your pond water clean and clear. However, chara still needs to be managed. Crystal Plex will make your pond beautiful again by clearing out and managing unwanted pond algae.
