Strolls through the local parks and outdoor activities decrease as the temperatures fall in Fort Wayne. Don’t sell your parks short this winter! Several public parks with ponds will open for ice skating if ice conditions allow.
Not being a native of Fort Wayne, I just recently discovered this fun Fort Wayne winter fact. The East Swinney Park pond and Lakeside Pond are two local ponds that have opened for public skating in the past.
Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department monitor pond ice conditions daily as snow and freezing rain may deteriorate ice conditions. The Fort Wayne Parks Department will post red lights/flag if ice conditions are not safe. You can also get updated information by calling the
Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department at 260-427-6000. Ice activities can also be done at Headwaters Park and McMillen Ice Arena.
As the leading manufacturer of
pond maintenance products we live, eat, and breath ponds (even in the winter) and are excited there are oppurtunities like these in our local area.
