Using Pond Bacteria

Using pond bacteria is one of the most important steps in your pond maintenance plan.  There are many types of pond bacteria to choose from, so it is important to know the difference between them so that you can have appropriate expectations.

Sanco offers a liquid maintenance dose of bacteria called Natural Pond Cleaner.  This maintenance dose should be applied approximately every 30 days and will help maintain existing muck levels and prevent further build up. 

Muck Doctor is a dry spike form of bacteria that is much more concentrated than the liquid gallon.  We recommend using Sanco’s Muck Doctor in targeted problem areas like back and dock areas.  This concentrated bacteria will significantly reduce the depth of your muck within 30-90 days.

Excavate is a biological alternative to mechanical pond dredging.  While the product used is the same as Muck Doctor; Excavate is a service we provide.  Our professionals will grid, measure, and apply the product strategically around your pond to effectively reduce your muck levels. 

Muck removal is an important part of pond maintenance. Reducing and maintaining muck levels will improve the overall quality of your pond and help prevent rampant weed and algae growth.
