Most of the aeration packages you’ll find today are very simple to operate and require very little maintenance. Our Crystal Blue aerators are designed to run continuously for years with trouble free service. This doesn’t mean you won’t run into problems with them from time to time, and the obvious signs of problems usually show up as a drop in air volume being pushed through the diffuser which results in little or no surface bubbling. This could be due to the diffuser(s) being clogged by weeds, algae, animals damaging the weighted airline, dirty filter, or a worn out diaphragm.
Here are a few tips to help you troubleshoot any problems you might run into:
You should clean the filter periodically (every 3-4 months). To clean the aerator filter undo the cover screw securing the semi-cover to the pump housing and remove the filter pad. Gently dust the filter pad then hand-wash in mild soapy water and dry. Replace the filter pad and filter cover. Secure with the cover screw.
If your aerator stops working unplug aerator and check diffuser(s) to make sure they are not clogged. If diffuser(s) are not clogged, the next step would be to check electrical outlet to make sure it is getting power.
If the outlet is in working condition, then you will want to check the condition of the diaphragm. If you find that the diaphragms are damaged you will need to replace it. You can order a replacement diaphragm for the Crystal Blue aerators by contacting Sanco. You will need to know what model aerator you have (i.e. CB40, CB60, CB80 or CB120). The diaphragm repair kits are shipped out of our Tennessee warehouse and can be shipped directly to your home, arriving within 5-7 days.
If you should need to replace the diaphragm, follow these easy steps:
If you find that your weighted airline is being damaged by animals, try running the airline from the pump to the water through PVC pipe and then over time the airline in the pond will work its way into the floor of the pond.Top of Form
To lengthen the lifespan of your aerator pump, we recommend sheltering it from the elements. Use a faux boulder or any type of ventilated housing.
