Treating Pond Shorelines

08 Jul 2012

The minimal rainfall is drastically affecting pond water levels across the Midwest.  As your water levels decrease the shoreline area starts to get larger and larger.  This shoreline area still needs to be treated because weeds will continue to grow.

Even though this area is technically not in the water; it is still important to use herbicides that are approved for aquatic use like Sanco’s Tsunami DQ and Catt Plex.  Eventually the water levels will rise and you want to make sure the chemicals you have used won’t harm your fish.

The Tsunami DQ is typically used to burn back underwater weeds.  Because the shoreline area is out of the water you can use Catt Plex.  Catt Plex is going to kill the plant to the root, not just burn them back.  The Catt Plex can’t be used on the weeds when they are underwater so this is a perfect opportunity to hit the shoreline weeds with a systemic herbicide.
