Septic Tree Roots

08 Nov 2011

Copper sulfate can be used to help control invasive septic roots, however, many people worry about the effects copper will have on the overall health of the tree.  Sanco recommends using its copper sulfate based root product, Root Destroyer. Root Destroyer will actually kill and soften the tree roots that are breaking or clogging your drain line or septic system.

Root Destroyer will not affect the health of the overall tree if used properly. It would take a large amount of constant copper contact with the roots in order for the tree to have ill effects. Root Destroyer should only be used according to label instructions which suggest usage approximately 2 times per year. When tree roots are in drain lines chances are they are the small stringy roots.

Using Root Destroyer will break down and soften the roots that are within your leach line leaving the above ground plant un harmed.
