22 Feb 2012
Tree roots are constantly looking for food sources, and they love to invade your sewer pipes and septic tank leech line due to the nutrients they carry. It’s nearly impossible from keeping certain tree species from attacking your sewer pipes, so a root killer is the answer. A root killer can be part of a sewer pipe maintenance plan to keep them flowing and help prevent overflows and back-ups.
Two infamous tree species that love sewer pipes are poplar family and willow family of trees. These tree species roots will stretch two or three times as far as their above-ground canopy; sometimes hundreds of yards away. If you can control the placement of these trees, plant them far away from your sewer or septic tank drainage field. Or, just don’t plant them at all.
