Pond Service vs. Do It Yoursellf

04 Sep 2012

Have you ever been driving down the road and you come across a beautiful pond.  The water is the perfect shade of blue and there’s not a weed in sight.  Well, trust me; Mmother Nature alone doesn’t keep it looking that pristine.  Anyone who owns a pond will tell you it takes a lot of time and pond maintenance to keep them looking beautiful. Not to mention the financial strain it can put on your wallet. Then there’s the question of hiring a pond service like Pond Champs to treat your pond or going the “Do It Yourself” route.  Here at Sanco we manufacture many pond products for those that prefer the DIY approach, however, we also have a service side.  Here are the pros and cons to both.

Hiring Pond Champs:

Pros

  •   One less thing you have to worry about
  •   They’re licensed and experienced
  •   You’ll have more time to spend with the family, golfing, etc. or at least more time to tackle
  •   other chores on your “honey do list”

Cons

  • Cost
  • Don’t get the satisfaction of “doing it yourself”

Doing it yourself:

            Pros

  • You can save money
  • You can apply as needed
  • Having the satisfaction of “doing it yourself”

            Cons

  • You need to be able to identify the algae/weeds so you use the right product
  • You rely on the store clerk to tell you what you need
  • You may have to go to several stores before you find what you’re looking for
  • You need to make sure you have all the equipment to properly and safely apply i.e.gloves, eyewear, sprayer, boat, etc.
  • You need to take the time to read all the directions before applying

As you can see there are pros and cons either way you go.  So it’s up to you to decide which route you are going to take.  Either way, with any luck your pond will be a place you can relax and enjoy with family and friends for many years to come.  For more information on pond treatment tips contact our helpful staff.
