Pond scum is a vague description that many people give anything that is unpleasant in their pond.  The term “pond scum” has been used to describe algae, weeds, pollen on the surface of the pond, and organic muck on the pond floor.  To better assist your Sanco representative be sure you use other adjectives to describe your “pond scum”.  Most of the time pond scum is used to describe organic material on the pond floor.
