Pond Safety Tips while Ice Fishing

06 Jan 2013

Ponds are often misread as something that can only be enjoyed during warm weather months.  During these months ponds are usually at the highest aesthetic level and more people want to be around them.  Winter months can bring about a whole different set of activities that can be extremely fun, activities such as ice skating and maybe more popular ice fishing.  Ice fishing is an activity that can be very fun if all proper safety precautions are taken.  Without the proper safety precautions ice fishing can be very dangerous and sometimes deadly.

Sanco Industries gladly provides pond owners with easy safety tips to make sure they are safe while enjoying their pond.  It is important that when someone goes ice fishing they tell another person where they are going and when they are expecting to return.  This way if there is ever a worry from an outside party someone else knows exactly where the ice fisher is.  No one should go ice fishing alone.  If something were to happen it is always helpful to have someone else around to help.  Always wear some sort of flotation device.  They make look silly, but they are important and can save lives.  One last tip is to never drive a car or truck onto the ice.  Even though it may be extremely cold and the ice may seem very thick, trucks and cars are heavy and can still fall through.
