Pond Products

11 Sep 2011

Sanco knows that managing a pond can be difficult, but we want to make pond maintenance as easy and effective as possible.  We are firm believers that pond maintenance takes multiple products to achieve the best looking and healthiest aquatic environment.  There are certain products that will be counterproductive if used together.  Here are some tips on how to get the most out of your pond products.

  • Sanco’s pond dyes can be used at anytime of the year and with any of our other products.
  • Sanco’s beneficial pond bacteria should be applied when water temperatures are above 45ºF.  Beneficial pond bacteria should not be used at the same time as copper sulfate based products or our Tsunami DQ.

Copper sulfate products can harm bacteria in your pond, this includes the good kind.  It is important to suspend your beneficial pond bacteria treatments while treating your pond with copper products.  That being said, it is that much more important to resume beneficial pond bacteria treatment once your algae is under control because your good bacteria needs replenished.

Using beneficial pond bacteria with our Tsunami DQ has the reverse effect.  The bacteria can consume the diquate and render your weed treatments ineffective.  So you will want to suspend the use of bacteria while treating weeds too.
