Pond Dye in Mid Summer

14 Aug 2011

The use of pond dye is an important part of your regular pond maintenance program.  During the warmest and driest part of the season it is very important you keep your pond colored.

This is the peak time of the year for weeds and algae to grow; in order to ensure your pond stays as healthy as it possibly can you will want to monitor the intensity of your pond dye closely.  If you notice the color is fading apply more dye.  If rainfall is minimal you may notice the pond dye lasts longer due to little or no dilution and overflow.

Sanco has three different colors of pond dye to choose from:

  • Crystal Blue turns your pond a beautiful royal blue color.
  • Ocean Blue gives your pond a serene turquoise color.
  • Black Out is often used on golf course ponds to give the pond a reflective surface and a deep lake effect appearance.

Pond dyes are largely based on personal preference and will dissipate in 30-60 days if you do not like the first one you choose.
