Pond Dye Clean Up

31 Jul 2011

Sanco always recommends the use of one of our three pond dyes: Crystal Blue, Ocean Blue, or Black Out.  Whichever shade you choose for your pond you will want to be careful when applying.  Sanco’s pond dyes are extremely concentrated; 1 gallon will tint 1.5 million gallons of water.  While our pond dyes will make your pond a beautiful color you probably do not want your hands or anything else that color.

Here are some tips for clean up if you do have an accident:

DO NOT JUST ADD WATER- the pond dye will just spread making clean up worse.

If you spill our pond dye on your garage floor or side walk you will want to use oil absorbent to soak up the majority of the spill.  Place saturated oil absorbent in two trash bags to ensure there will be no leakage.  Use a 50/50 bleach and water mixture to clean the rest.

If the pond dye splashes on your legs or gets on your hands when applying you will want to use a 50/50 bleach and water mixture to remove as much of the colorant as possible.  If colorant has sat on skin for an extended period of time, skin may be stained for a short period of 3-5 days.

*Note Sanco’s pond dyes are 100% safe and will not harm you.
