Green Lawns Lead to Green Pond Algae

03 Jun 2013

Sometimes it is a mystery as to why algae can grow so quickly and so abundantly over a pond surface.  There are many factors within the pond itself that can cause supreme algae growths, but sometimes it is important to look at factors outside of the pond that could be leading to problems within the pond.  One example could be a muddy watershed attributing to muddy water in a pond.  Things like extreme algae blooms can be caused by how nature around the pond is being treated.  Things like fertilizers that are positives for yards, crops, gardens and other things that grow can be a big negative for pond water.

Think of it like this: If a fertilizer is applied to a yard to make the grass grow healthier, stronger and greener then what effect would it have on plants, or algae in a pond.  Green lawns can lead to green ponds and that is not a good thing.  The same fertilizer that is used to enhance a yard is also and unfortunately enhancing the growth of algae in a pond.  Lucky for pond owners who run into this problem, Sanco Industries has formulated a liquid copper sulfate solution named Crystal Plex that controls the growth of unwanted algae and leaves pond surfaces in stunning condition.  That way pond owner can have a beautiful pond and a beautiful yard.  Crystal Plex is 100% safe for humans, fish, livestock, pets, birds, swimming, and irrigation.
