Early Season Pond Treatment

05 Apr 2012

Our Pond Champs service team is back into action.  Pond Champs service started back up on April 2nd.  Our guys are excited for another great pond season and look forward to making sure ponds in Northeast Indiana look the best they possibly can.

Early season pond treatment is tricky.  Of course the Pond Champs Service team is going to be adding plenty of pond dye and beneficial pond bacteria to help prevent excessive algae and weed growth.  However, weed and algae growth can start as soon as ice melts from ponds; however, weed and algae treatments are typically unsuccessful if done before the water temperatures reach 40-50ºF.

If weeds and algae are present and temperatures are below 40-50ºF and treatment is applied the chemical will not be absorbed to its full potential by the plant.  Therefore, early applications of algaecides and herbicides can lead to a waste of time and money.

Be sure to treat your pond preventatively and have patience when it comes to treating for weeds and algae.  For more information on early pond treatment contact the helpful staff at Sanco.
