Duckweed Prevention

25 Mar 2013
Duckweed is one of the most difficult pond weeds to control.  Follow these simple steps to help prevent the rampant growth of pond weeds like duckweed.  Duckweed loves stagnant water, nutrient rich water, and sunlight.

Sanco recommends creating an environment that doesn't condone pond weed growth.  Use an aerator or fountain to disturb the surface of the water.  This surface movement will increase your water's oxygen levels, which is great for fish health, but it will also prevent stagnant water.

Duckweed also thrives on nutrient rich water.  The use of beneficial pond bacteria products can help neutralize excess nutrients, nitrates and phosphates.  Don't feed your pond weed growth!

Finally use one of our three pond dyes: Crystal Blue, Ocean Blue, or Black Out to give your pond that finishing touch.

If you have duckweed in your pond use Tsunami DQ to control existing growth.  For more information contact the experts at Sanco Industries
