Biological Pond Dredging vs. Mechanical Dredging

10 Feb 2013
Pond dredging is the process of getting rid of all the pond scum and sediment at the bottom of a pond and also making the pond deeper or wider.  There are many reasons for dredging a pond.  Dredging can be beneficial to the environment when trying to create an island or contoured shoreline to habitat more wildlife.  However the most obvious benefit is cleaning nasty muck and sediment off of the bottom of a pond to make it more enjoyable for use.

Traditionally ponds have been mechanically dredged.  This process can be very costly and kind of a pain to the pond owners and can also be destructive to the pond.  Sanco Industries has created another way to dredge ponds.  Excavate, a product offered by Sanco, is an all-natural biological pond dredging product.  Excavate is easy to use and just as effective, if not more effective as the costly mechanical option.  The great part about biological dredging is that the work is being done while the pond can still be enjoyed by everyone.  Representatives from Sanco will grid and measure the pond  to find out how much muck and sludge needs to be dealt with and then they will drop Excavate spikes into the pond and the natural bacteria will do the rest.  Sanco guarantees 6 inches of pond muck to disappear in 90 days.
