Working with Mulch Worx

Mulch Worx is a commercial grade, concentrated dye used to restore the faded mulch in your yard. Rather than hauling and spreading out new mulch each year, dyeing the existing mulch instead will save you so much time and money. Mulch Worx is both non-toxic and non-hazardous, so it is completely safe for people and wildlife. Add instant curb appeal with our three color options: brown, black, and red.

One quart bottle with one coat of dye can treat up to 2,800 square feet. Follow the tips below for best results for Mulch Worx in your garden and landscape.

  • Wet down sidewalks or other areas near application to prevent unwanted staining
  • Shake well before use
  • Set your sprayer to a medium mist
  • Test a section before spraying the entire area
  • Spray 2-3 coats for best results
  • Allow a few minutes of drying time between coats
  • Rinse immediately from any undesired areas

The amount of direct sunlight on the mulch will determine how long the product will keep its vibrant color. It can potentially last up to several months before application is needed again. Spray Mulch Worx on a warm, sunny day to allow plenty of drying time. Once you apply a layer or two of the product, lightly rake over the mulch to stir up any unsprayed pieces. This will ensure that there will be little to no faded pieces underneath that might become visible if the mulch ever becomes disturbed.

Mulch Worx will not permanently stain any surface, but it may become difficult to remove if not rinsed immediately. It is a concentrate, so it can be a messy product if you are not cautious. We do not recommend pouring the product over concrete or other similar surfaces since it can be difficult to remove. It is advised that you use gloves and have a wet rag or watering hose handy just in case of accidental spillage or spraying.

If you want to avoid getting any of the colorant on to your plants, use something from home to help shield the area you are trying to avoid. For example, a sheet of cardboard would work great with keeping the product where it needs to be.
