Rust Converter

20 Jan 2011

Using a rust converter product is a great way to salvage your metal equipment without spending a lot of money.  With a little prep work and dedication you can use a rust converter with great success. Sanco Industries has a rust converter product, Rust Kutter. A rust converter works by transforming the existing rust into a different substance called ferric phosphate. The ferric phosphate then acts as a barrier between the actual metal, and your newly painted surface. It is a very simple process and only takes minutes to apply. You only want to apply the rust converter to the spots that have visible rust.  If the rust converter is applied to non-rusted metal there will be no chemical reaction and the product will remain sticky. Don’t let your valuable pieces of metal equipment waste away to nothing.  Here are some average costs of new items that a rust converter could have salvaged:

Standard Lawn Mower: $200

Tubular fencing: $200 per section

Metal storage sheds: $400

The average cost of a quart of a rust converting product is around $16.  Honestly, even if you are skeptical…what do you have to lose? I think it’s worth looking into a rust converter first, before you decide to purchase a new piece of equipment.
