Rust Converter

28 Nov 2010

Recently I relocated into a new home and during the move I noticed a candlestick holder, which had been in my family for generations, had accumulated rust on the surface. Shortly after I walked to my balcony and became aware that the wrought iron fence on the veranda also looked rusty. I wanted to give a new life to both these items so I sought out a rust converter. Sanco Industries manufactures a rust converter called Rust Kutter and it worked like a charm. Per labeled instructions I brushed off the loose paint and particles from the candlestick and the fence. The rust converter I used came in a 32oz spray bottle, so it was very simple to apply. All I had to do was spray on the rust converter to the rusty areas. The product took 24 hours to dry and did leave a powdery white residue which was easily wiped off.

Both items did have a painted coating so the surface was uneven; however, this makes sense, the rust converter simply oxidizes and does not coat the surface. It is like having a plaster wall that broke loose; one could not paint over it and expect the wall to be smooth. So all I had to do is use filler such as Bondo to make the surface even and repaint. I am so happy with the results. I saved money using a rust converter and was able to enjoy the wrought iron fence that gives my property character and the revitalized candlesticks I’ve grown to love.
