Foaming Issues in Your Pool?

Why be reactive when you can be proactive? Ensuring that your pool is well-cleaned and functioning properly are two of the best ways to prevent foaming. When the first two fall short, using a defoamer can save the day!

Laundry detergent residue on swimsuits, body lotions (and similar products), inefficient levels of pool chemicals, or even improper use of algaecide are the main causes of pool foaming. Make sure that you test your water quality often and follow proper dosing instructions per the product label. Check out the ideal range of pool chemicals listed below:

  • Salt: 2700 to 3400 ppm
  • Free Chlorine: 1 to 3.0 ppm
  • pH: 7.2 to 7.8
  • Cyanuric Acid: 60 to 80 ppm
  • Total Alkalinity: 80 to 120 ppm
  • Calcium Hardness: 100 to 400 ppm
  • Metals: 0 ppm
  • Saturation Index: -2.0 to 0.2

If your levels are within range and you're a stickler about rinsing off before swimming, Pool & Hot Tub Defoamer can help not only eliminate foaming, but preventing it as well. Pool Defoamer is a concentrated formula that is compatible with other sanitizer and water treatment chemicals. It is oil-free but silicone-based, so if you have a silicone allergy then we would not recommend use.

Just three easy steps for use...add 4 ounces of product directly into the pool skimmer/intake filter, let Defoamer circulate for one hour, then repeat if foaming still persists. That's it!
