Pond Treatment Tips

10 Feb 2011

Many people don’t realize how important pond treatment is.  Pond treatment is just as important as maintaining your lawn and landscape.  As any property owner knows if you let the work build up it can be very difficult and more work to get your outdoor maintenance back in check.

If you take pride in your outdoor living spaces than here are some great pond treatment tips to help maximize your time and effort.  If you keep on top of your pond treatment, the only thing you will have to do is maintenance doses or spot treatments. If you let your pond grow out of control with weeds and algae, you will have to work so much harder and spend a lot more money to get it back to normal.

Use these simple pond treatment tips:

Monitor your pond on a weekly basis.  Take a stroll around your shoreline and see what’s going on under the water. If you see growth, identify the plant growing and use algaecides or herbicides to spot treat.

Taking care of any problems that early will save you a time and money.  Some weeds and algae can double and even triple in volume in a couple days time in the right conditions.

The most important pond treatment tip is to remember preventative maintenance is the key. Keep some form of dye in your pond and don’t forget how important beneficial pond bacteria are in preventing weeds and algae from taking over your pond.

Don’t let your pond become a chore, make it something your proud of.
