Pond Dye

05 Jun 2011

Pond owners that are experimenting with pond dye may choose a pond dye that they aren’t particularly fond of.  Never fear pond dye is like a bad haircut, the dye will dissipate over time about 30 days.  Pond dye is largely based upon personal preference so what one pond owner might like you may not.

The same color of pond dye can look different in every pond.  There are so many different variables when it comes to ponds; for example, how deep is the pond, what is the bottom comprised of, does it have trees surrounding it, the age of the pond, and what is the shoreline made of.  All of these variables will affect the way a pond colorant tints your pond.  Unfortunately, the color choice you make for your pond dye is going to be trial and error.  If you introduce a pond dye that you are not happy with, wait till it dissipates with rainfall and try another color.

Sanco Industries manufactures 3 different colors to choose from:

  • Crystal Blue will give your pond a beautiful royal blue tint.
  • Ocean Blue transforms your pond into a relaxing ocean like retreat.
  • Black Out gives your pond a deep lake effect look and reflects the surrounding landscape.
