How to Use Pond Products

Sanco Industries has been manufacturing pond treatment products since 1991. All of our products complement each other very well and each plays an important role in the maintaining the health of your pond. However, not all pond products should be used at the same time.

Pond algaecides like Crystal Plex and pond bacteria products like Natural Pond Cleaner should not be used at the same time. Pond algaecides kill algae and can harm beneficial pond bacteria temporarily, so we suggest spacing these treatments apart. If you are going to treat your pond for algae, be sure to wait at least 1 week after your last bacteria treatment. If you have already treated your pond with an algaecide wait 1 week to apply beneficial pond bacteria.

This waiting period will allow you to get the most out of your bacteria products while keeping growth under control. Some customers ask, “Why even put in the pond bacteria?” As you are killing off pond algae, the dead material sinks to the bottom of the pond floor. Without the use of beneficial pond bacteria, this material becomes food for next seasons growth.
