Green Pond Water

30 May 2011
Green, sometimes gritty looking pond water is usually caused by what is called planktonic algae. Planktonic algae is a very small form of algae that spreads throughout the water column giving your pond water a nasty green tint. The algae are actually green and that is why you end up with green pond water.
Sanco has a product called Crystal Plex which is a liquid copper sulfate solution that can quickly take care of that issue. Crystal Plex has a higher copper content then the other competitive products as well as a special blend of proprietary ingredients that actually keeps the copper buoyant in the water for up to 20-30 days depending on the weather. The Crystal Plex will spread throughout the water column killing all algae it comes in contact with.

The best way to treat is by spray application and one gallon treats approximately 1 surface acre.  Be sure to only treat ½ of your pond at a time to avoid oxygen depletion.
