There are several types of lake dredging methods to be considered when faced with a dredging project.
Mechanical Dredging
Suction Dredging
Biological Dredging
Biological dredging has proven to be just as effective at a fraction of the cost and much less invasive on the surrounding landscape and aquatic life compared to both mechanical and suction dredging.
The process of biological dredging is very straight forward and convenient. First, the muck is measured and the pond mapped and gridded. Second, the product is distributed into the muck. Third, after 30 to 45 days, the muck levels are re-measured. Fourth, the biological applicator evaluates whether additional treatments are necessary. There are no heavy equipment issues nor are fish or turf harmed in any way during this operation. Furthermore, no permits are needed, since no sediment is actually transported from the site to a donor.
