Blue Pond Dye

27 Dec 2010

There are many different kinds of blue pond dye on the market today.  It can be difficult to know what the differences are and which to buy.  Sanco Industries has two different kinds of blue pond dye, Crystal Blue and Ocean Blue.

Many pond owners really don’t know the difference between the two and could end up being disappointed by choosing one or the other without knowing the difference.  Pond dye is largely based on personal preference and just like any other retail item you can usually find the same product in several different colors or variations to give the consumer an option.  That is why there are different blue pond dyes.

Sanco’s Crystal Blue and Ocean Blue are just two different tints of blue.  Crystal Blue consists of only acid blue #9.  This gives your pond a very true blue color.  Ocean Blue is made of acid blue #9 and yellow #23.  Using Ocean Blue gives your pond a turquoise tint.  Some describe it as a little green, which is true, anytime you mix blue and yellow you are going to have a bit of a green tint.

Some pond owners are against any green tint in their pond, some absolutely love a turquoise tint; that is why we provide the option of Crystal Blue and Ocean Blue.  This is also why it is important for consumers to read their blue pond dye label to identify the active ingredients.  This will give you an indication of what tint your pond will have when you introduce blue pond dye.
