Beneficial Pond Bacteria

It doesn’t matter if you have a small ornamental pond or a 5 acre pond… it contains bacteria and that’s a fact!  Beneficial pond bacteria needs to exists to efficiently keep organic waste such as fish waste, excess food, dead vegetation and even fertilizer run-off broken down before they can cause problems such as algae and other water quality issues.  Bacteria that produce the offensive odors and poor water quality are known as anaerobic bacteria.  Under certain conditions the pond’s ecosystem gets out of balance and the natural levels of beneficial pond bacteria (aerobic bacteria) is unable to keep up with the waste levels of the pond.  This can be caused by over population of fish, over feeding or maybe a hard rain that washed high levels of debris into the pond.

When the beneficial pond bacteria becomes unable to breakdown the waste fast enough, the oxygen levels can drop and anaerobic bacteria starts to become widespread producing hydrogen sulfide (odors) and poor water quality.  By adding Sanco Industries beneficial pond bacteria, Natural Pond Cleaner, you are creating a situation where the beneficial pond bacteria is outnumbering the anaerobic bacteria and creating a natural balance within the pond again.

Because you never know exactly when your pond could get out of balance, it is recommended that pond owners add beneficial pond bacteria like Sanco Industries Natural Pond Cleaner on a regular bases as often as weekly, depending on the pond.  It is also recommended that you continue to use beneficial pond bacteria like Natural Pond Cleaner on a monthly basis to maintain the health of your pond.  Also, because the beneficial pond bacteria live and grow in oxygen, their benefits are greatly increased with the presence of an aerator or fountain.
