Aquatic Weed Control

27 Apr 2011

Aquatic weed control can be a difficult task if you don’t educate yourself first.  Never fear Sanco Industries is here to help you get your pond looking the best it can.

The first step to controlling your aquatic weeds is to properly identify what weeds are growing.  Many times pond owners treat weeds in their ponds with the wrong products and end up wasting their time, money, and they still have pond weeds.

While copper sulfate is effective in controlling some aquatic weeds your best solution is to use a broad spectrum herbicide.  Sanco supplies two herbicides one for submerged aquatic weeds and the other for emerged aquatic weeds.

Submerged and floating aquatic weeds should be treated with Tsunami DQ, a diquat dibromide aquatic approved herbicide.  Tsunami DQ is effective in controlling hard to kill weeds like duckweed.

To control your emerged aquatic weeds you will want use Sanco’s Catt Plex.  This glyphosate based aquatic herbicide will kill emerged pond weeds like cattails and water lilies to the root.

Don’t forget to use preventative pond products like Crystal Blue pond dye and Natural Pond Cleaner beneficial pond bacteria to maintain your beautiful pond.
