What’s the difference between Crystal Blue and other brands of pond colorant?
Crystal Blue is made with a proprietary formula that gives your lake or pond a deep royal blue color. Other brands combine shades of blue and yellow, which gives the water a green, algae-like tint. Crystal Blue’s royal blue tint gives the water a more natural and longer lasting appearance.

How much Crystal Blue do I need to use?
One gallon of Crystal Blue will treat approximately 1 acre of water that has an average depth of 4 to 6 feet. You can vary the color by adding more or less Crystal Blue as you desire. One gallon will treat up to 1.9 million gallons of water, depending on water quality.

How often do I need to use Crystal Blue?
Usually 2 to 3 times per year, beginning in March or April, then in July and September. Your needs will vary depending on rainfall, evaporation, outflow, etc. The object is to maintain the water at a medium to medium-dark color of blue that is pleasing to the eye.

Can I over treat my pond with Crystal Blue?
You can over tint your pond, but Crystal Blue is non-toxic to fish and animal life. If you over-treat your pond, the color will dissipate over the summer.

Is Crystal Blue safe for fish and animals?
Yes, Crystal Blue is derived from a food grade dye. It will also not stain or harm ducks, fish or livestock when used according to label directions.

Can I apply Crystal Blue myself or do I have to hire someone?
You don’t need to hire anyone or be a trained chemist to apply Crystal Blue to your pond. Just simply pour in at the water inlet or spot treat at regular intervals across the pond, beginning upwind.

How does Natural Pond Cleaner work?
Natural Pond cleaner is formulated to specifically attack muck on your pond floor. This blend of natural bacteria and enzymes consumes fish debris, dead vegetation, and sludge. By maintaining a high level of good bacteria in your pond, you can reduce your algaecide/herbicide treatments.
