Crystal Blue and Ocean Blue are food grade dye/colorants and are 100% safe for fish, animals, recreation, irrigation and potable water.
Black Out is safe for fish, animals, recreation, irrigation, but is not safe for potable water. (Permalink)
Crystal Blue, Ocean Blue, and Black Out colorants can be used in your pond during any season. Just pour the product into the pond water from the shoreline. We even recommend pouring the product over the ice as it melts. (Permalink)
Most colorants will last in your pond approximately 30 days. You may have to add more pond dye before 30 days if you have execissive rainfall, run-off, a heavy out flow, or evaporation. If your colorant is fading you will visually be able to tell and should add more dye to the water. (Permalink)
Crystal Blue, Ocean Blue, and Black Out's application rates are based on 1 surface acre with an average water depth of 4-6 feet deep. One gallon of any of the listed colorants will treat about 1 acre 4-6 feet deep. For our water soluble pond dye bags you would use one box for 1 acre 4-6 feet deep.
Pond dye is largely based on personal preference. If you want your pond a little darker add more colorant. (Permalink)
Measuring your pond is the first step to treating your pond safely and properly. You can measure your pond based on the average shape of the body of water. Use these formulas to calculate the size of your pond.
If you would like us to do a satellite measurement for $35 (Sample) of your pond please send us a request.
*Satellite measurement not available for small deco garden ponds. (Permalink)
Do not add water to the spill, you will just spread the dye!
If you have a liquid pond dye spill, soak up as much of the product with an oil absorbent. Place the soiled absorbent in a trash bag to prevent colorant bleeding on anything else.
Use a 50/50 bleach and water mixture to clean up the rest.
To clean off of hands use bleach water, but be sure to keep out of eyes. (Permalink)
The best way to apply liquid copper sulfate is to do a broadcast spray. Spray the algae mats with Crystal Plex in sections. You will only treat 1/3 to 1/2 of your pond at a time to prevent oxygen depletion. See labeled instructions for application amounts and click here for how to measure. The algae will brown up within 48 hours. Copper Sulfate is toxic to Koi, goldfish and trout. (Permalink)
Crystal Plex liquid copper sulfate and Copper Sulfate granular is safe for livestock, recreation, potable water and not harmful to most fish when used according to label directions. Oxygen depletion is the common cause for a fish kill. There are a few exceptions, Copper sulfate is not meant for small deco ponds and is toxic to Koi, Golfish and Trout. (Permalink)
Crystal Plex Algae killer, should be applied when you first notice an algae bloom. Typically algae will turn water green, have a slimy film, or thick "horse hair" like mats on the pond. Spot treat with Crystal Plex, liquid copper sulfate as needed waiting 5 to 7 days between treatments. Water tempurature must be 50 degrees or above in order to work effectively. (Permalink)
Crystal Plex, liquid copper sulfate algae killer, can last in water column for up to 30 days; however, solution can weaken due to rainflow, outflow and evaporation. You may need to add more if you have another algae bloom. Wait a week between applications and only treat a 1/2 or 1/3 of the pond at a time to recover oxygen levels. (Permalink)
Properly measure your pond to find the square acreage and average depth. One gallon of Crystal Plex, liquid copper sulfate solution will treat a surface acre 1 to 2 feet deep. Example: 1/2 acre pond 4 feet average depth, mix 1 gallon with 8 to 10 gallons of water. (Water is to help spread the product, not to dilute.) See labeled instructions for all application rates. (Permalink)
Crystal Blue pond colorant is made with a proprietary formula that gives your lake or pond a deep royal blue color. Other brands of dye combine shades of blue and yellow, which gives the water a green, algae-like tint. Crystal Blue's royal blue tint gives the water a more natural and longer lasting appearance. (Permalink)
You can over tint your pond, but Crystal Blue pond colorant is a food grade dye and non-toxic to fish and animal life. If you put more then the recommended dose in your pond, the color will be a darker color, but dissipate over time.
** Please note, the gallon size is meant for larger ponds a 10th of an acre or higher. Colorant is available for small, backyard decorative ponds in smaller units and shows dosage by gallons. (Permalink)
There are several reasons why Pond colorant may look like it is not effective or intense in color. Possibilties include: the pond wasn't measured properly, you haven't used enough colorant, your pond is cloudy or murky, dye clings to floating particals in the water and can cause colorant to drop to the bottom of your pond.

To apply: simply pour the correct amount of Natural Pond Cleaner into your pond from the shoreline in several different locations around the pond. The Natural Pond Cleaner will disperse itself throughout the water. If you have a high concentration of muck in one area, pour directly in problem area. (Permalink)
Natural Pond Cleaner is 100% safe for fish, animals, wildlife, recreation, and potable water. Natural Pond Cleaner is a liquid form of beneficial bacteria that naturally occurs in ponds and is not harmful. (Permalink)
The best time to use Natural Pond Cleaner is when water tempuratures are at least 50 degrees or warmer. The strains of bacteria tend to flourish in hotter tempuratures. (Permalink)
When first using Natural Pond Cleaner, pour in bacteria weekly for 4 weeks or until desired water or bottom quality is achieved. Continue monthly at half the initial rate to maintain water quality. Usually bacteria will last up to 30 days in the pond; however, rainfall, outflow and evaporation can deplete levels. (Permalink)
1 gallon of Natural Pond Cleaner will treat 1 surface acre with an average depth of 4 to 6 feet. A double dose of bacteria is recommended in the spring and fall. Measure your pond properly to make sure enough pond cleaner has been added; however, more then the recommended dose is not harmful. (Permalink)
Natural Pond Cleaner can be purchased at our online shopping cart or visit Sanco Industries dealer locator to find a participating store nearest you. *** Please note, stores listed carry a varying array of products. Call store for product availablity. (Permalink)
Simply put, Natural Pond Cleaner is a proprietary blend of naturally occuring bacteria that create hundreds of enzymes which breaks down organic material. The bacteria are what consume the muck and organic material. (Permalink)
Natural Pond Cleaner is a specialized blend of naturally occuring bacteria that helps with water clarity, reducing pond odors, clean bottom muck, dead vegetation, fish debris and dead plant matter. (Permalink)
Tsunami DQ, diquat is approved for aquatics and can only be purchased at Sanco Industries online store. (Permalink)
Spray application is most effective and recommended when treating weeds in your pond or lake with Tsuanmi DQ. Please note, this is a non-selective herbicide and can burn or kill plants it comes into contact with. See labeled instructions for amount of diquat needed. Application rates will vary based on overall size and depth of the pond in addition to identifying what type of weed you are treating. It is necessary to wear protective clothing and eyewear when applying and avoid coming into contact with mist. (Permalink)
Tsunami DQ, diquat should be applied when you first notice weed growth. It is important to properly identify the weed to make sure you are using the most effective product. Do not treat if your water temperatures are below 50 degrees as you do not want to waste the herbicide. (Permalink)
The usage of Tsunami DQ depends on the type of weed and size of the of the pond or turf area being treated. One can use as little as 1 quart or as much as 4 quarts per quarter acre. Mix 3 - 4 ounces of Tsunami for every gallon of water. See labeled instructions for application rates. (Permalink)
Tsunami DQ has restrictions on consumption and irrigation after application. Please refer to chart on labeled instructions for appropriate time frame (anywhere from 1 to 5 days.) Read complete label directions before handling Tsunami DQ. Keep livestock and all animals away from treated forage near ponds, lake, fields and crops for a 24 hour period. It is recommended to wear protective clothing and eyewear, chemical-resistant gloves and footwear with socks. (Permalink)
The surface that Rust Kutter is being applied to needs to be free from oils, grease, dirt and dust. Remove any loose paint or rust with a wire brush or sandpaper. Wipe off any loose residue. Do not grind surface to bare metal. Rust must be present for Rust Kutter to work. Shake Rust Kutter bottle thoroughly and apply with the spray quart container or for the gallon apply with a brush or roller. Immediately after application thoroughly wash brush or roller with warm, soapy water. Allow to dry 24 to 48 hours or until "tacky" feeling is gone. (Permalink)
Rust Kutter uses a balanced formula that causes rust to chemically change to a phosphate, turning the metal black or chalky white depending on conditions. A coat of paint then uniformly attaches itself so to the metal that moisture and oxygen cannot attack the surface, which results in a much longer lasting finish. (Permalink)
Rust Kutter does not need to be neutralized on the metal surface. Once Rust Kutter dries, it becomes inert and will not react to temperature or other chemicals. (Permalink)
Rust Kutter spreads easily and covers a larger area than paint because it is as thin as water. One 32 ounce container covers approximately 150 square feet and one gallon covers approximately 600 square feet. (Permalink)
Allow Rust Kutter to dry 24 to 48 hours. Certain conditions can cause Rust Kutter to dry slower. If the area is tacky to the touch, wait another 24 to 48 hours to make sure it cures thoroughly. (Permalink)
All of Sanco's bacteria is formulated to consume organic material, muck or sludge. Our liquid bacteria is simply a maintenance dose. The water soluble bags are more concentrated and will break down and consume the muck faster than the liquid. The spikes are the most concentrated. The spike design is also beneficial because the weight and shape of the spike will insert itself deep into the muck. The spikes are recommended for recreational areas that have become unusable due to muck build up. (Permalink)
Using a sprayer is the most effective and recommended method to apply Weed Plex Pro, when treating for submerged and floating weeds in your pond or lake. Please note, this is a non-selctive herbicide and can burn or kill plants it comes into contact with. See labeled instructions for amount of diquat needed. Application rates will vary based on overall size and depth of the pond; in addition, identifying what type of weed your are trying to treat. It is necessary to wear protective clothing and eyewear when applying and avoid comming into contact with mist. (Permalink)

Mix 2 - 3 ounces of Catt Plex per gallon of water to make 1 1/2% solution. Treats an area of approximately 500 square feet. It is recommended to add an aquatic grade surfactant, such as Plex Mate, which helps enhance the herbicide and absorb into the plant or weed. (Permalink)
Catt Plex is an approved aquatic herbicide not containing any surfactants. Roundup and many other herbicides contain surfactants that are toxic to wildlife. Fish and invertibrates are especially sensitive when exposed. A specifically formulated aquatic surfactant, such as Plex mate, is highly recommended to aid in the absorption of the chemical into the plant. (Permalink)
If your fountain quits working there are a few quick and easy options one may want to check. First, check the circuit breaker and the GFI to make sure they did not get flipped. Either one may need to be reset. Another possibility is there is a short in the system. Disconnect power and check cord for damage. You may need to replace the cord. If the problem isn't resolved please call Sanco Industries for additonal trouble-shooting. (Permalink)
If the fountain has low to no spray, there may be a blocked screen or nozzle. Disconnect power, throughly clean the screen and nozzle. Also check to see if the o-ring is missing or damaged, and correctly seated in the groove. Make sure the nozzle is installed properly and in the right direction. The nozzle is marked "this side up." Finally, check to see if the water level is at least 5 feet deep. If not, move to a deeper section of the pond. Restart unit. If these solutions do not help, please contact Sanco Industries. (Permalink)
if you need additional trouble-shooting, please call our office at Sanco Industries. It may be necessary to send the fountain in for testing or repair. If so, obtain a return authorization number (RA#) from Sanco Industries. Wothout this number testing or repair can not be processed. (Permalink)
The model and serial number are located on the model/date code label found on the body of the pump. (Permalink)
Placing an aerator into your pond can be accomplished in a few easy steps. First, carefully remove the aerator from the packaging and uncoil the aerator hose. Next, fill diffuser and weight with gravel or sand. Place pump securely on the shoreline. Sink the diffuser in or near the deepest part of the water. the airline is weighted, so this will drop to the bottom. Plug in the aerator and everything should be up and running. (Permalink)
The aeration filter should be cleaned periodically every 3 to 4 months. (Permalink)
To clean the aerator filter, remove the cover screw securing the semi-cover to the pump housing and remove the filter pad. Gently dust the filter pad then hand-wash in mild, soapy water and let dry. Replace the filter pad and filter cover. Secure with the cover screw. (Permalink)
To lengthen the lifespan of the pump, it is recommended to shelter the aerator pump from the elements. This can be done by covering the unit with a fake boulder (which can usually be found at a local home improvement center) or any other type of housing that has proper ventilation. (Permalink)
Make sure the aerator is unplugged. Remove the screws or bolts on the four corners of the pump case and remove the top cover. Remove plastic diaphragm covers. Unscrew nut on both sides of the diaphragm. Replace new diaphragms on both sides. Reinstall diaphragm covers on both sides. Replace top cover back on pump case and fasten screws or bolts. (Permalink)
If you purchased an aerator through Sanco Industries, please contact our office to order a replacement diaphragm kit. The kit will include everything you need to successfully replace the diaphragms. (Permalink)
First unplug the aerator and check diffuser(s) to make sure they are not clogged. If diffuser(s) are not clogged, next check electric outlet to make sure it is getting power. If the outlet is in working condition, then you will want to check the condition of the diaphragm. See "How to replace diaphragm." If you find that the diaphragms are damaged or torn you will want to replace it. Please call Sanco Industries with additional troubleshooting issues. (Permalink)
Yes, Crystal Plex is still effective in killing algae at the same application rate after it has been frozen. Freezing affects the residual control for Crystal Plex. Crystal Plex normally has a residual control of over a month. Frozen Crystal Plex will only have a residual effect in controlling algae for 3-5 days. When using frozen Crystal Plex be sure to shake well before diluting and spraying algae for control. I recommend using warm water to dilute the frozen Crystal Plex before spraying. (Permalink)
Sanco has several different forms of bacteria, liquid and dry.
Our liquid Natural Pond Cleaner can last for more than 5 years if kept in a stable temperature unopened. Once opened you should use Natural Pond Cleaner within 2 years. Once opened and stored you may loose some spores over time.
Sanco's dry packs and spikes can last at full strengh up to 3-4 years. Spores may fade over time, but some germination could be expected indefinietly. (Permalink)
In short, yes it is safe. The recommended dosage for Stock Plex in a stock tank is .4ppm. Sheep diets require 5ppm of copper. What sheep owners need to consider is the total amount of copper your sheep are intaking. Many feeds have contain copper so while our product isn't enough to harm the sheep when combined with other products used by sheep you could go over the recommended dosage of copper to keep your sheep safe.
